DAY 01 Airport – Managua
Reception on arrival at the airport and transfer to the hotel in Managua.
DAY 02 Managua – Chichigalpa – Leon
Breakfast at the hotel. Early transfer to Chichigalpa to visit the National Liquor Company, where we’ll take the Ron Flor de Caña VIP tour. You will have the chance to taste each of the rums from the portfolio and visit the Slow Age Station, one of the main aging cellars. At the end of the tour, you will receive a personalized Ron Flor de Caña 18 bottle.
Next, depart to the colonial city of Leon, founded in 1610. The city functioned as capital of Nicaragua on multiple times after the independence in 1821, and it played a major role on the country’s history.
We will visit the Cathedral of Leon, one of the most beautiful temples of the continent and the biggest one in Central America, recently declared as a World Heritage Site. This temple is the resting place of great Nicaraguans like the poets Ruben Dario and Salomon de la Selva. From the roof of the Cathedral you will get an extraordinary panoramic view of this charming city and the Maribios volcano range.
DAY 03 León – Masaya – Granada
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to Granada. On our way, we will visit Masaya Volcano National Park, where a paved road takes us to the edge of the active Santiago crater.
Finally, we will arrive in Granada, the oldest colonial city in the western hemisphere of the Americas that still remains in its original place of construction. The city was founded in 1524 on the shores of Lake Cocibolca.
We will visit the museum at San Francisco Convent, which houses an important collection of historical artifacts and paintings, like the 28 pre-Columbian statues from Zapatera Island, dating from the years 800 to 1200 AD. You will also have the chance to enjoy the city from a different perspective at the top of the bell tower of La Merced Church.
DAY 04 Granada / Isletas
Breakfast at the hotel. We will start the day with a boat tour of Granada’s famous Isletas, an archipelago of more than 360 islets formed by an ancient volcanic explosion, just off the shore of Lake Cocibolca. While you listen to your guide’s commentary about the history of Lake Cocibolca, admire views of Mombacho Volcano and keep an eye out for native birds like tanagers, hawks, jays and warblers.
Then we will go to Zopango, an island of more than 7000 sq. meters of lush vegetation and amazing panoramic views of the volcanoes Mombacho and Concepcion. We will enjoy a delicious fish BBQ with season fruit platters and island-made fruit juices. You can also bathe in the calm and warm waters of the lake, use the kayaks or just relax on the hammocks. Transfer back to Granada in the afternoon.
DAY 05 Granada – Morgan’s Rock
After breakfast, we will go to Morgan’s Rock Hacienda & Eco-Lodge, a unique natural paradise for travelers looking for a touch of luxury while enjoying the adventure and excitement of an exotic tropical destination.
Each Bungalow has a king size bed and a queen size sofa bed; a private deck with a hammock, private bathroom with hot/cold shower (heated by solar panels) and ceiling fans (no air conditioning).
DAY 06 Morgan’s Rock
Breakfast at the hotel. Day at leisure. Enjoy one of the most beautiful beaches in Nicaragua while you overlook the amazing sunsets on the Pacific Ocean from your private bungalow.
DAY 07 Morgan’s Rock – Managua
Breakfast at the hotel. Morning at leisure to enjoy the beach. Transfer to Managua in the afternoon.
DAY 08 Managua – International Airport
Transfer to Managua International Airport according to your flight’s departure time. We recommend being at the airport 02 hours earlier.
