Begins and ends in Managua.
Managua, located on the shores of Lake Xolotlán, is the capital of the Republic of Nicaragua since 1852. It has witnessed different historical events that have shaped this particular city, which has interesting architectural and natural landscapes.
Managua City Tour
We will start the tour with a visit to Loma de Tiscapa Historical Park. Stroll through the park to see the ruins of the old presidential palace, a statue of Sandino, designed by the Nicaraguan poet Ernesto Cardenal, and other objects of historical interest such as the tank sent by Benito Mussolini to Anastasio Somoza. Additionally, you can see a fabulous view of Tiscapa lagoon and Managua.
Then we will go down Bolivar Avenue towards the historic center of the city, where important sites such as the Central Park, the ruins of the Cathedral of Santiago, the National Palace of Culture and the Rubén Darío Theater can be found.
We will continue to Paseo Xolotlán where you can see a scale model of 75 buildings located on the historic Roosevelt Avenue, many of which were destroyed by the 1972 earthquake; an also a scale model of the main churches and Cathedrals of Nicaragua.
In the “New Managua” you will have the opportunity to visit the Metropolitan Cathedral, an interesting example of modern architecture.
