Ometepe, Magic between Volcanoes
Ometepe is the largest island in the world inside a fresh water lake. From a short distance we can appreciate a beautiful and unique landscape, an island with two volcanoes: Concepcion and Maderas.
During our stay we can enjoy the warm waters of the lake and visit the islands archaeology and pre-Columbian art. For adventurers, we will hike the Madera Volcano whose slopes are colorful and abundant of vegetation.
Itinerary
Day 01: Managua o Granada –Ometepe Island
Departure to Ometepe Island. Upon our arrival we will visit the town of Altagracia, its Church and the museum of Archeology.
Day 02: Ometepe Island
In the morning trekking to the extinct Maderas Volcano and its beautiful crater lagoon. We will enjoy spectacular views of the island and the lake of Nicaragua. The volcano holds a great variety of species of flora and fauna. Its climate changes from tropical in his slopes with coffee plantations to a thick cloud forest on the top. In the evening, we will enjoy the pleasant and warm waters of the lake.
Day 03: Ometepe Island– Managua
Breakfast in Hotel. In the morning we will visit a petroglyphs site where we will be able here to see the interesting images left by the natives in the middle of this tropical paradise. Later we will visit Charco Verde Lagoon and its beautiful scenic landscape. Transfer to Moyogalpa to take ferry towards San Jorge. Departure to Managua.
