Nicaragua from North to South
In Nueva Segovia, we will visit Monzonte, an indigenous town and coffee farm and Somoto Canyon; this is an impressive geological formation that has been declared a protected area within the category of National Monument.
From here we will depart to the colonial city of Leon. Then, Masaya and its volcano, Granada with its islets. At last Ometepe Island, witch is a paradise in the heart of the Lake of Nicaragua, with its beautiful landscape and two volcanoes. From here we will depart for the Peñas Blancas border.
Itinerary
Day 01: Las Manos Border/Honduras – Ocotal
Greeting to your arrival at Las Manos Border. Departure to Ocotal, in the route we will visit the Dipilto Sanctuary in honor of Virgin Mary and Monzonte Indigenous Town famous for its handicrafts.
Day 02: Ocotal
In the morning visit to San Isidro Coffee Farm. Return to Ocotal and visit to Ciudad Antigua.
Day 03: Ocotal – Estelí – León
Departure to León. On the route we will visit Somoto’s Canyon, before arriving at León we will visit San Jacinto hot springs.
Day 04: León – Managua
After the Leon City Tour we will go to Managua, where we will visit the most important sites of the city.
Day 05: Managua – Masaya – Granada
Departure to Granada on the way we’ll go to Masaya Volcano National Park and Masaya’s Handicraft Market. We’ll continue to Granada.
Day 06: Granada
In the morning we’ll visit Mombacho Volcano Natural Reserve; later we’ll go to the charming town of Catarina. Return to Granada where we will do a Granada City tour and visit its Islets.
Day 07: Granada – Ometepe Island
Departure towards the Island of Ometepe. Upon your arrival we will make a visit to the town of Altagracia, the Church and the museum of Archaeology
Day 08: Ometepe Island
In the morning trekking to the extinct Maderas Volcano. The volcano lodges a rich variety of species of flora and fauna, and a climate that changes from tropical in his slopes with coffee plantations, to thick cloud forests on its crater with cold temperatures. In the evening, we will enjoy the lake’s pleasant and warm waters.
Day 09: Ometepe Island – Peñas Blancas Border, Costa Rica
In the morning we will do a visit to the petroglyphs and Charco Verde Lagoon. Transfer to Moyogalpa to take ferry towards San Jorge. Departure to Peñas Blancas Border.
